Commander Corps V Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar met Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday and assured him of extending more help if needed to cope with any eventuality resulting from floods or monsoon rains.
During the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s House, the two discussed the flood situation in the province and efforts needed to address the situation.
A government handout said: “The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah held meeting with Corps Commander Karachi Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar, who called on him at the CM house Karachi today. During the meeting, they discussed and exchanged views on the ongoing flood situation and preventative measures by the government, and expressed their satisfaction over the situation.”
It further stated: “The chief minister praised the role of the Pak Army for extending help to the irrigation department/civil administration for strengthening the embankments and participating in the rescue operation for transporting the people of the Katcha area to safer places.”
The chief minister thanked the corps commander for the support being provided by the army for meeting the challenges.
