CHITRAL: At least 80 more houses were washed away by fresh floods in Brep and Garam Chashma, locals said on Tuesday.
They said fresh wave of floods destroyed 40 houses and apple orchards in Brep village of Mastuj tehsil. Brep is known for producing a famous variety of apples.They said the floods also played havoc in Garam Chashma in Lotkoh tehsil where 40 houses were washed away.
Talking to The News, Project Director of the Drosh Power House Qayyum Nawaz said it would be restored soon and would start generating 1.5MW electricity. Project Director Reshun Power House Niamat Khan said the repair and reconstruction would take three years. “The reconstruction of the damaged power house will cost Rs1 billion,” he added.
The Frontier Works Organisation (WFO) sources said that the road from Mroy to Reshun had been cleared for light traffic.The government functionaries have been providing relief items to the flood affected areas through Pakistan Army helicopters.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam, who is advisor to the prime minister, also visited the flood affected areas. He announced Rs50,000 each for those who lost their houses in the devastating flood. He said that the under-construction work on the Galen Power House would be expedited and would general 30MW of electricity.
