The Pakistan People’s Party leadership in Sindh has constituted a committee comprising senior leaders to prepare its manifesto for the upcoming local government election expected to be held on September 20, 2015.
This was announced by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, who is also the PPP president in the province, while chairing a meeting of the party’s provincial executive committee at the CM House.
Members of the committee are: Senator Taj Haider, Nasir Shah, former federal minister Maula Bakhsh Chandio, Waqar Mehdi, Lal Bakhsh Bhutto, Rashid Rabbani, Rukhsana Zuberi, Sindh parliamentary affairs minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro, Anwar Khan Mahar, Dost Ali, former provincial minister Ayaz Soomro, Kazi Asad Abid and Jameel Soomro.
On the occasion, the chief minister directed office bearers and activists of the party to speed up electioneering to ensure full participation of the people in the local government polls.
He said the PPP would be victorious in the upcoming election because it was still the most popular party from Peshawar to Karachi.
He said the party had carried out a number of development projects in many districts of the province, including construction of schools, colleges, hospitals and roads, besides extending basic amenities to remote areas.
Moreover, he said parliamentary boards had been set up under the supervision of district presidents of the party to nominate the prospective candidates for union councils and union committees.
Bilawal gets flood briefing
Elected representatives from Larkana and Sukkur divisions briefed Pakistan People’s Patry Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over a video link from their respective districts and informed him about the measures being taken to meet any emergency situation arising out from the floods.
Bilawal stressed that the elected representatives, especially those belonging to the flood-prone areas, should be actively involved in their efforts to mitigate the sufferings of the people if flood water ran rowdy.
The briefing was held at the Bilawal House where Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senior Minister for Information and Irrigation Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Health Minister Jam Mehtab Dahar,Jam Khan Shoro, Mukesh Chawla and others were also present.
