All set to hold by-polls in PP-100 tomorrow

GUJRANWALA: All arrangements have been finalised to hold by-election in PP-100 on July 26 (tomorrow).
The seat was vacated after the murder of PML-N MPA Rana Shamshad Khan. The PML-N has fielded Rana Akhtar Ali Khan, the brother of deceased MPA Rana Shamshad Ali Khan, while the PTI has fielded Ehsanullah Virk and PPP Rana Shahbaz Ahmad Khan. As many as 162,444 voters are registered in the constituency while 113 polling stations have been set-up for the polls. Total 3,000 policemen would be deployed to maintain peace on the polling day.
2 PRISONERS BOOKED: Police on Friday booked two prisoners for allegedly trying to escape from the police custody.
Two prisoners, Rasheed and Raza, were being shifted to the Gujranwala Central Jail from the Kasur District Jail on a police van when both prisoners allegedly tried to escape after setting ablaze the vehicle with the help of some explosive material. However, the van driver and guard foiled the attempt and took van to Sabzi Mandi police station and extinguished fire.
HUMAN SMUGGLER HELD: An FIA team arrested a human smuggler here.
FIA Inspector Sajjad Haidar raided a hideout and arrested human smuggler Tanveer Goraya who was declared a proclaimed offender in three human trafficking cases.
