ISLAMABAD: Interior Minsiter Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has directed chairman Nadra and Director General Passport to take immediate measures for improving public dealing and redressing public complaints so as to facilitate the process of obtaining CNIC and passport, a spokesman of the interior ministry said.
Taking notice of long queues in front of Nadra and passport offices, inordinate delay, agent-mafia and other complaints regarding public dealing, the minister directed that senior officers of Nadra and passport office should visit more than 650 offices spread across the country during the month of August and prepare performance audit report of these offices.
He said there should be noticeable improvement in public dealing and complaint redress system within one month.Talking about various issues faced by the public, the minister directed that online system for CNIC registration and getting passport be implemented at the earliest so that the people could be saved from unnecessary inconvenience.
He stressed that the online system should be user-friendly and easy to use so that a common man could benefit from it.
He said that the online system should cater to the requirements of overseas Pakistanis also. Equally important, he said, is to ensure that the system in not misused by agent mafia. The minister observed that the applicants be kept informed of the progress on their requests through mobile phone tracking system and text messaging services.
The minister urged Nadra and passport offices should ensure that no agent mafia operates near their offices and immediate action should be taken against such elements.
Regarding home delivery of passports and CNIC, the minister directedthat home delivery system through courier be put in place immediatelyso that the applicants could be saved from repeated visits to Nadra and passport offices.
