BAHAWALPUR: Eight seriously ill infants died in the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) during the last 24 hours, said BVH spokesman Dr Aamer Bokhari.
Talking to The News here, he said that more than 750 infants were admitted to the BVH paediatric ward during the last 48 hours and many of them were in critical condition. Of them eight seriously ill infants died in the hospital, he added.
TAXI DRIVER MURDERED: A taxi driver was murdered by three people on resistance during a dacoity at Chak 53, Fateh, in Bahawalnagar’s Bakhshan Khan police limits on Tuesday.
Three people had hired the taxi of Ghulam Shabbir, father seven daughters, of Chak 66/15-L, Mian Channu, for Chishtian. On the way, the accused snatched the taxi and killed Ghulam Shabbir. Police have shifted the body to the Chishtian THQ Hospital for autopsy. It is learnt that police had arrested the killers and recovered the car but they were not disclosing their names.
FLOOD RELIEF CAMPS: Twenty-two flood relief camps have been set up in the limits of eight ravine belt police stations of Rahimyar Khan district.
Regional Police Officer Ehsan Sadiq while reviewing the flood relief arrangements and relief operation in range police said that the operation would continue till the evacuation of the last human being. It has been told that 254 men, 93 women, 106 children and their 236 cattle had so far been shifted to safer places keeping in view the possible threats of flood in Katcha area of Rahimyar Khan district. Meanwhile, Rahimyar Khan DPO Tariq Elahi Mastoi visited the flood relief camps and directed the SHOs and DSPs to ensure security during the flood days.
