Minister inspects flood safety walls

JHANG: Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada Monday inspected flood safety walls of Chenab River.
He attended a briefing of officials of the Irrigation and Revenue departments about the water level in Chenab and Jhelum rivers. Briefing the minister, the district emergency officer said on the directions of the Punjab government Eid holidays of all staff had been cancelled and flood emergency was declared in the district. He said that 14 rescue boats were available to meet the flood emergency. Meanwhile, the AC Jhang was trying to repair weak portions of Chenab River’s walls near Chak Kacha and Mauza Koura areas as water level was increasing.
