ISLAMABAD: People belonging to different walks of the life thronged the embassy of Saudi Arabia on Monday to share and record their grief on the sad demise of veteran Saudi diplomat and former Foreign Minister of the Kingdom Prince Saud el Faisal who passed away last week and laid to rest in Makkah on Sunday.
An exclusive reverence is attached with him in Pakistan since he was son of late King Faisal who is widely respected and loved in the country. The embassy has opened condolence book in the mission and it would remain open today (Tuesday).
Former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, former Deputy Chairman Senate and Chief Minister Balochistan Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali got recorded their statements in the book while Chairman Kashmir Committee of the Parliament and leader of the JUI Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Prime Minster Advisor for National Security Sartaj Aziz, former federal minister and secretary general erstwhile ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Syed Tariq Fatemi and several ambassadors including of Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon visited the Saudi embassy and recorded their condolences in the book on Monday.
Acting Saudi ambassador to Pakistan Jassem M. Khaledi received the visitors and accepted their condolences. The visitors offered Fateha for the departed soul and joined by Jassim Al-Khaledi.
Every visitor was appreciative of the services that the lat Prince rendered for his Kingdom and the Muslim World especially for Pakistan. The visitors were unanimous in their view that Pakistan has lost a great well-wisher and brother. They were of the opinion that whenever Pakistan needed any support on international forums the assistance of late Prince Saud el Faisal had always been forthcoming. According to the Foreign Office SAPM Syed Tariq Fatemi signed the condolence book on the death and paid rich tributes to the Prince and expressed his heartfelt sorrow and grief at the loss of an outstanding diplomat, a thorough gentleman and a great advocate of unity and solidarity within the Islamic Ummah.
Acting Saudi Ambassador Jassim Al-Khaledi thanked the people of Pakistan for their sentiments towards Saudi Arabia and condolences that have been offered by people belonging to various walks of life. The acting ambassador said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia always stood shoulder to shoulder to each other in every crisis.
