Two FWMC workers drown in canal

FAISALABAD: Two young sanitation workers of the Faisalabad Waste Management Company drowned in a canal near Kashmir Bridge here on Wednesday.

Shahbaz Saleem and Ditta were sitting near the canal when suddenly Ditta fell in the canal. On seeing this, Shahbaz jumped into the canal to save his colleague but both drowned.

Fesco issues power shutdown schedule: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) issued power shutdown programme for Friday (today) due to necessary repair, maintenance and expansion of electricity lines. According to the schedule issued by the company, power supply from Kashmir Wood, Ahmad Enterprises, Jewan Shah, Abdullah Fibers, Ariyan Textile, Tayyab Textile Mill, Sarfraz Textile, Tahir Rafiq Textile and al-Murtaza feeders emanating from 132-KV Kamal Pur grid station and Faisalabad Road feeder originating from 132-KV Chiniot grid station would remain suspended from 7am to 12 noon while Muneer Abad, Qaim Sain, Raja Chowk, Qudrat Abad, Ejaz Town, Saeed Abad and Ali Road feeders emanating from 132-KV University grid station would observe power shutdown from 8am to 2pm on Friday (July 26). Similarly, electricity supply from Rasheed Abad, Rehmat Town, new Jinnah Colony, Rasool Pur, Sadar Bazaar, General Hospital and Jalal Street feeders originating from 132-KV University grid station, GM Abad, Marzi Pura, Rehmat Abad, Qadir Abad, Ahmad Abad, Subhan Abad, Sidhupura, Faiz Abad and Amin Pur feeders emanating from 132-KV Narwala grid station would remain suspended from 8am to 1pm whereas Agri University, Cardiology-II, City, Iqbal Stadium and State Bank feeders originating from 132-KV University grid station would observe loadshedding from 7am to 11am.

TWO DEAD IN ACCIDENTS: Two motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents here on Thursday.

In the first incident, a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle near Chak 53/GB. As a result, Pervaiz Ahmad died instantly.

In another accident, motorcyclist Irfan Ahmad of Chak 70/RB was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle near Dijko.

Irfan’s wife and three children were also wounded in the accident.

COMMITS SUICIDE: A disabled youth committed suicide here on Thursday.

Ali Ahmad ended his life by taking poison. The motive behind the incident is said to be poverty.

He was the father of two minor children.

Two minors recovered after 18 months: Police on Thursday recovered two minor sisters safely who were abducted from Rajana last year.

According to Ghulam Muhammadabad police, accused Fazal Hussain of same locality acquainted to the victims’ family allegedly abducted the girls 18 months ago when they were going to a local seminary.

Police informed that Saima Bibi, mother of Eman Fatima (10) and Noor Fatima (7), resident of Sidhupura, had contracted second marriage after the death of her husband.

The accused was not happy over her act and kidnapped her daughters. The police team got a clue and raided a house in Rajana and recovered both the girls safely and arrested accused Fazal Hussain.

Further investigations are underway.

Commits suicide: A married woman committed suicide over a domestic dispute in the area of Tarkhani police on Thursday.

Faiza (22), wife of Nafees and a resident of Chak 213-GB, was depressed after exchange of hot words with her in-laws over a domestic issue. The woman swallowed poisonous pills and was rushed to a hospital where she died.

Six power pilferage held: The police have booked six persons on the charge of power pilferage in different parts of the city.

The Fesco teams conducted surprise checking in various parts of Faisalabad and detected electricity pilferage at six points including the residences of Abdul Hameed, Shafqat, Javed Iqbal, Saeed, Ghulam Hussain and Anayat Ali. The Fesco reported the incidents to the police. Police have registered separate cases against the accused.
