Coal power project to start production in 2017: CM
Chinese company assures completion of 1,320 megawatt coal project in Sahiwal within stipulated period

LAHORE
CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in connection with Sahiwal coal power project, held a video conference Monday from Lahore with the President of Hauneng Shandong power generation group in China.
Besides President of Hauneng Shandong, other senior officers of the group also participated in the conference and assured completion of 1,320 megawatt coal power project in Sahiwal within stipulated period.
Talking to the President of Hauneng Shandong power generation group through a video conference, the chief minister said two power plants of 660 megawatt electricity based on coal were being set up in Sahiwal with the cooperation of China and work was being carried out speedily on this project. He said Sahiwal coal power project was of vital importance for overcoming energy shortage and instructions had been issued to federal and provincial institutions concerned to dispose of all matters regarding the implementation of the project speedily.
He said the visit of Chinese President to Pakistan had promoted historic economic cooperation between the two countries. He said that 1,320 megawatt coal power project would start producing electricity from 2017.
He expressed satisfaction over the progress made on this project so far and thanked Hauneng Shandong and Ryui group for their invaluable cooperation. He invited President of Hauneng Shandong group to visit the site of Sahiwal coal power project.
President of Hauneng Shandong power group said that work on Sahiwal coal power project would be continued in accordance with the expectations of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and it would be completed as per schedule. He said orders had been given for the purchase of turbines, generators and boilers and all necessary machinery would reach the project site before schedule.
Provincial Minister Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, IGP, additional chief secretary energy, secretary home, chairman Punjab power development company, chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, secretary energy, authorities concerned and the head of Chinese team working on Sahiwal coal power project participated in the conference from Lahore while Commissioner Sahiwal RPO, DCO and DPO attended the conference through a video link.
peace: Shahbaz Sharif has said that the entire nation is united for elimination of terrorism and extremism. He said Pakistan army had set glorious examples of courage in the war on terror. He said the unprecedented sacrifices of the martyrs would not go waste and Pakistan would become a haven of peace.
He expressed these views while talking to assembly members of various districts who met him, here Monday. He said the steps taken against terrorism under National Action Plan were yielding positive results and the war on terrorism was being fought on every front. He said army had defeated terrorists through operation Zarb-e-Azb.
The chief minister vowed that making Pakistan a safe and peaceful country was the mission of every Pakistani. Those who met the chief minister included MNAs Tahir Iqbal Chaudhry, Mian Alam Dad Laleka, Rana Zahid Hussain, Ch. Abid Raza, Adviser Ch Arshad Saeed MPA, former minister Ch. Abdul Waheed Arain, Begum Faiza Mushtaq MPA and Dewan Mushtaq former MPA.
