Sharjeel Memon has said the KElectric was just minting money and least interested in improving the system.
The minister for local government stated this when asked on phone by The News about the outcome of last visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Karachi and why he did not go to Jinnah Hospital.
Memon said the PM just came to hear the complaints regarding the power company and for which inquiry was on.
When asked that the KE has not made any kind of improvement in supply of electricity and loadshedding continued unabated then what the people of Karachi should expect from the visit, he said “I don’t know.”
The minister added that the federal government was a shareholder in the KE, so it was solely responsible for the atrocities being committed by the power utility such as unannounced and prolonged loadshedding.
Memon was reluctant to talk more about the KE and PM’s visit and cut off the line when asked Nawaz Sharif could have had announced some package for the people who had died due to heatstroke.
Cleanliness measures
Sindh Minister for Local Government and Information Sharjeel Inam Memon directed the district administrators and KWSB chief engineers on Monday to ensure cleanliness on the eve of sacred nights (Taaq Ratain) in the last 10 days Ramazan at all mosques and Imambargahs in the city.
Chairing a high-level meeting at his office, he also called for immediate action against encroachments on all major roads.
He told the officials to take steps to clean the roads leading to the procession route of Youm-e-Ali. He said that public complaints must be resolved with the help of the media.
