ATC acquits five terrorism suspects
CTD arrests 2 militants in Charsadda

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday acquitted five terror suspects allegedly charged and arrested for attacking a police party after the state lawyer failed to prove the charges.
ATC judge Salim Jan Khan issued the acquittal order after hearing both the parties.The accused people’s lawyers Shabir Hussain Gigyani, Muhammad Saeed Khan and Tafseel Afridi submitted before the bench that the police arrested the accused including Fahim Khan, Sher Zaman, Iqbal, Fahadullah and Liaqat, residents of Mohmand Agency, and charged them with attacking a police party.
According to a first information report (FIR) lodged on June 18, 2014 by Muhammad Noor Khan, SHO of Khan Raziq Shaheed Police Station, the accused were arrested along with heavy arms and explosive materials after a police encounter.
Counsels for the petitioners submitted that the accused had been falsely charged in the case as there was no evidence on record that they were involved in attack on police party or anti-state activities.
Our correspondent in Charsadda adds: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday arrested two alleged militants in Sardheri area in the district and recovered explosives and other material used in making bombs, police said.
They said that personnel of the CTD during a search at a checkpoint in Shamilat in Sardheri area arrested two militants riding a motorcycle. They said the police recovered two kilogram of explosive, eight dynamites, one kg ball bearing, four feet prima cord, two detonators, a battery and electrical timer and arrested two militants.
