Karachi
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted a pre-arrest bail to administrator Sindh University Employees Housing Society, Barkat Ali Junejo, in an illegal allotment case.
The petitioner was appointed as administrator of the housing society in 2013 and was currently facing an investigation, initiated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), for misusing the authority and illegally selling amenity land of the society in Jamshoro.
NAB issued notices
The SHC directed NAB to file comments on a petition filed by secretary information against an inquiry against him for embezzling of government funds.
Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani had moved the court over NAB’s inquiry against him for misappropriating funds worth Rs241 million through fake transactions and over invoicing to M/s Connect Marketing Communication. The petitioner maintained that he had no authority to approve the financial affairs of the department.
Detention
The SHC issued notices to the federal and provincial law officers to appear on July 9 over a petition against detention of KMC audit and finance officer along with his brother by Rangers personnel.
Petitioner Feroz Ahmed Qadri submitted that personnel of the force took his son Isbah Ahmed and Ijtaba Ahmed from their house, situated in Gulzar-e-Hijri, on June 6; the former was a senior officer of the KMC’s finance department while the latter had his own business.
He submitted that neither the arrest of his sons was made official nor had they been produced before any court of law so far.
The court was prayed to direct the personnel to produce the detainees before the court or release them if not required in any case.
