KARACHI: Dollar East hammered Qasmi Cricket Club by seven wickets in their third and final league match to top the Group D of the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2015 here at the Lawai Stadium.
In the other match, Shaboo Stars Quetta consolidated their position in Group C by blasting Jahanian Tigers by nine wickets.
Batting first, Qasmi CC scored 161 for nine in 20 overs with Mohammad Rizwan (48 off 32 balls), Mohammad Ikhlaq (42 off 34 balls), Arsalan Bajwa (32 off 27 balls) and Shahzad Ali (26 off 14 balls) being the leading scorers.
Leg-spinner Usman Qadir (5-34) was the pick of the bowlers.
Dollar East scored briskly from the outset with Mohammad Rizwan (69 off 38 balls) and Fakhar Zaman (60 off 28 balls) tearing apart the bowling. They enabled their team to reach the target in 16.3 overs despite losing a couple of wickets to off-spinner Abid Qasmi.
In the other match, Jahanain Tigers were routed for 84 in 15 overs with Yousuf Siddiqui (19 off 19 balls) being the top-scorer. The innings was wrecked by the spin duo of Aamir Mohibullah (3-3) and Atiq Maqbool (3-5).
Shaboo Stars reached the target in only 7.5 overs. Mir Waiz Tareen scored an unbeaten 35 off 19 balls with three sixes and two fours. Mohibullah Rehman remained undefeated on 28 off 17 balls. He hit three sixes and a four.
Meanwhile, the management of the tournament announced lucrative prizes for the spectators.
Tournament Director, Mohammad Iqbal, informed ‘The News’ here on Tuesday that the allottees of Naya Nazimabad coming to witness the knockout matches could win prizes sponsored by Arif Habib Dolmen Reit.
“The spectators will be issued a coupon and there will be lucky draws in each of the seven knockout matches, starting with the quarter-finals. The prizes include motorcycles,” he disclosed.
