Most smokers do not seem to know that they are inhaling many harmful chemicals. – a fact that would probably persuade many to quit smoking. For example, tar in cigarettes kills cells in air passages and in lungs while nicotine causes addiction and blocks arteries. Worst of all, inhaling passive smoke poses a serious threat to non-smokers as well.
Cigarettes are inexpensive and widely available in our country. That is one of the reasons that nearly 40 percent of our population consume tobacco in some form or the other. The government has a responsibility to discourage smoking in order to save citizens from lung cancer, heart diseases and bronchitis.
