FAISALABAD: Food Minister Bilal Yasin Friday paid a surprise visit to Ramazan Bazaars and checked quality and prices of different commodities.
The minister visited Ramazan Bazaar established at Faizan-e-Medina Chowk Susan road and checked quality of commodities displayed at the bazaars.
On the occasion, the minister said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is directly supervising the Bazaars, saying that provision of economic relief to the public was the top priority of the Punjab government. He said district administrations of all districts were taking stern actions against profiteers and hoarders.
The minister also inspected stalls of subsidized sugar and flour, and said the provincial government had given subsidy of Rs 3.5 billion under Ramazan package.
Earlier, the minister visited Ramazan Bazaar established at Jaranwala and checked quality and rates of food items.
MPA Rai Usman Kharal was also present.
The minister met with the people busy in buying things in the bazaar and enquired about difference between prices in commodities being sold in Ramazan Bazaar and in open market.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal briefed the minister that 18 Ramazan Bazaars were established in the district and the bazaars were closely being supervised and monitored. He said 54 Price Control Magistrates had been mobilized to take actions against profiteers.
