Drug den busted; two peddlers held

The District West police in a raid on a notorious drug den in Qasba Colony on late Saturday night arrested two peddlers and recovered four kilograms of hashish.
According to police, on a tip off the superintendent Orangi along with two companies of Rapid Response Force (RRF) raided the infamous den of Amanullah in Peerabad and after a brief encounter arrested two accused Zahid Gul and Malik Zada from there.
They added that four kilograms of hashish was also recovered from the den. Further investigation into the case was underway. The police also claimed to have apprehended four addicts from the Chatai Hotel near Muslimabad.

Teenager killed
A teenage boy was killed in a road traffic accident in Saeedabad police limits on Sunday. Ismail, 17, was knocked down to death when a recklessly driven dumper crashed into his motorcycle near Raees Goth in Baldia Town.

Youth shot dead in Lyari
A young man was gunned down in Lyari police limits on Sunday.
The victim, an unidentified youth said to be around 22 years old, was shot dead by unknown assailants as he was passing near Jhat Pat Market on a motorcycle. Police believed he was killed in a targeted incident. The body was taken to the Civil hospital for an autopsy.

38 profiteers jailed, 179 fined
Karachi
In the ongoing drive against profiteering, 179 shopkeepers were fined a collective amount of Rs534,500, while 38 others were jailed on Sunday. According to officials of the city’s authorities, 40 milk sellers, 33 chicken sellers, 79 fruit and vegetable vendors and 27 others were among the shopkeepers fined.The action against profiteers, it was said, was taken in several different areas of the metropolis during routine inspection checks.
