PESHAWAR: The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (Pedo) employees have warned of shutting down the power plants over non-acceptance of their demands. The employees of the provincial government-run organization on Tuesday expressed concern and said the Pedo Board of Governors (BoG) had refused the genuine demands of the employees. They demanded the dissolution of the BoG.

They threatened to launch the pen down strike after Ramazan and shut down the power plants being run in the province which, they feared, would incur huge losses to the government. The employees noted with concern that the Reforms Committee of the BoG which met the other day again refused to accept the demands of the employees which was an injustice and had stirred unrest. Pedo Officers Association President Said Aziz Bacha, General Secretary Fazal Raheem and Pedo Employees Organisation head, Haji Ibrar Khan and General Secretary Sifatullah said the BoG Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan had formed Reforms Committee to solve the issues of the employees. They complained that some members in the BoG were self-centred and even did not know the rules of business and hence had refused to accept the rightful demands of the employees.

The employees said if the chief minister and chief secretary did not accept their genuine demands, they would close down the power plants being run by the Pedo that would entail Rs 10 million daily losses to the exchequer.
