690 pass out from Joint Elite Police Training Centre

NOWSHERA: A total of 690 trainees, including 35 women, completed the Elite Force training at the Joint Elite Police Training Centre (JEPTC) here on Tuesday.
Speaking at the passing-out parade, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak announced Rs15,000 monthly allowance for the Special Combat Unit and Rs3,000 for the women commandoes. He also announced Rs1 million for the staff and trainers at the JEPTC.
The chief minister said that work on the second phase of the centre would soon start. He added that the vacant positions at the JEPTC would be filled.He said that after the introduction of merit-based system the qualified constables would get chances of promotion.
He lauded the police for playing an active role in the ‘war on terror’ and added that incidents of terrorism had gone down by 60 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Speaking on the occasion, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Durrani said that six specialised schools had been established in the province. He said that two schools had been established from the resources of the province.
He said that KP Police was taking on the militants despite unfavourable circumstances. The IGP said that fast track promotions had been introduced in the force from constable to the rank of the deputy superintendent of police and 25 percent quota had been fixed for this purpose. He said that well-educated and talented cops would benefit from it.
The IGP asked the government to increase by five percent the quota for the heirs of the police martyrs for enlistment as assistant superintendent of police.During the ceremony, Fauzia Saeed from Nowshera was declared the best female cadet while Sadia from Abbottabad and Nazia from Peshawar were awarded for their excellent performance.
In the male category, Zahid Shah from Hangu was declared the best cadet while Saad Ali from Abbottabad, Khiraz Gul from Peshawar, Muhammad Waseem Feroz from Bannu, Faisal Amin from Mardan and Abdul Salam from Kohat were also awarded for their outstanding performance.
A total of 655 male and 35 female commandoes passed out in the training. The IGP decorated them with special badges.The Elite Force demonstrated skills in combat, protecting VIPs, handling weapons, and firing from different positions.The women commandoes received admiration from the participants.
