China’s largest embassy compound inaugurated in Islamabad

Ayaz Sadiq terms large compound reflection of Sino-Pak deep-rooted ties; Chinese envoy thanks Pakistan for allocating huge piece of land for embassy’s compound, naming road as Zhou Enlai Avenue

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq formally inaugurated China’s largest embassy’s compound here on Tuesday and said that it reflected special and exclusive decades’ old Sino-Pak deep-rooted relationship.
Chief Minster Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for State and Frontier Regions Lt. General (r) Abdul Qaisar, Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, besides large number of diplomats and public figures were present on the occasion.
The Ayaz Sadiq said that the magnificent state-of-art new compound of the Chinese embassy was testimony of over-growing multifaceted relationship of the two countries.He said the Chinese President Xi’s visit to Pakistan and the Sino-Pak joint economic corridor projects have brought their friendship to a new highlight and opened wide opportunities of the country’s scoio-economic development.
In his opening address, Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong thanked the government of Pakistan for allocating a huge piece of land for establishing the new embassy’s compound that was allocated on the road, named as Zhouenlai Avenue.
The new compound is now the largest one by land area among all Chinese embassies in the world. The new compound is backed by the grand Margalla mountain in the north and faces Rawal Lake in the south, which brings us a broad view of a magnificent and diversified landscape.
He said, “The Chinese Embassy Compound is the true reflection of the China-Pakistan friendship.” The design of the new compound originated the typical Huizhou architecture style, one of the major traditional Chinese architecture schools. The new compound can be regarded as the combination of traditional Chinese culture and modern design. The new compound will serve as a window and platform for all our friends to have a better understanding of the Chinese culture and civilization, he added.
He further said, “The completion and launching of the new compound is testimony to the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan. We feel very proud to have the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan located on the road named after our beloved leader Zhouenlai.”
The construction of the new compound takes almost three years, during which they have always enjoyed the assistance and support from the governments of both countries and people from all walks of life. In February of this year, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi raised the Chinese National Flag at this new compound for the first time.
Sun Weidong further said that many Pakistani friends also provided precious support and assistance in the construction of the new compound, The Foreign Ministry, Capital Development Authority, police and other relevant departments from Pakistan provided full support for the construction, operation and security of the new compound, he added. The new compound was just a piece of blueprint years ago, but after continued efforts, it is now turned into reality, he said.
The ambassador said, “China is ready to make joint efforts with Pakistan in planning and constructing the CPEC, so as to deepen our all-weather friendship and all-round cooperation and build up the China-Pakistan community of shared destiny.
He said, “The China-Pakistan relationship is now faced with historical opportunities. We share the same dream of achieving economic growth, social progress, people’s well-being and national peace and prosperity. We are glad to see that under the leadership of the Pakistani government and with the joint efforts of the people from all walks of life, Pakistan has made remarkable achievements.”
“We are fully confident that the future of China-Pakistan relationship is broad and bright. We’d like to work with Pakistan with unremitting efforts, to translate the grand blueprint formulated by our leaders and our shared dreams into reality in the years to come,” he added.
