Rangers arrested 17 suspected criminals in raids conducted in different parts of the city on Monday.
A spokesperson for the paramilitary force said Rangers conducted a raid in Green Town area of Shah Faisal Colony and rounded up five extortionists. Their weapons were also seized.
Rangers also raided a hideout of criminals in Goth Fathe Pur Mola and after an intense gun battle, arrested two men, Ahmed Ali Brohi and Barkat Ali Brohi, both members of the drug mafia.
Police had conducted two raids at the same hideout in the past, but the heavily-armed criminals had forced them to withdraw on both occasions
The two men were found in possession of a sub-machine gun, a 7mm rifle, two repeater rifles, three double-barrel rifles, four TT pistols and a large quantity of ammunition.
In another raid conducted in Gulshan-e-Maymar, Rangers rounded up three members of banned outfits and seized their weapons. In North Nazimabad, the paramilitary force nabbed seven men including terrorists belonging to banned outfits and robbers.
