MANSEHRA: Authorities have terminated 39 teachers from service for being absent from duty in Upper Kohistan district.

“Fresh appointments would soon be made as replacement for the 39 teachers soon,” Ziaullah Khan Bangash, chief minister’s advisor, told reporters in Dassu on Saturday. Bangash, on a three-day visit to upper and Lower Kohistan on the instruction of Prime Minister Imran Khan, said that he would now frequently visit the far-off districts to monitor educational activities. He said that in order to address shortage of teachers in both districts, he would request Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to relax academic qualification for candidates. “The independent monitoring unit is also tasked to ensure regularity of teachers and those remain absent of duty five-day in a month should be terminated from service,” said Bangash. He also appealed to parents through media to report the absence of teachers and dysfunctional schools to the district education officers in their respective districts.
