Islamabad: The enforcement wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has claimed razing illegal constructions in different areas of Islamabad and retrieving CDA land from illegal occupants.
An official of CDA on Thursday said that during ongoing week, Enforcement Directorate in continuation of its anti-encroachment drive carried special anti-encroachment operations in Nurpur Shahan (Barri Imam), 'Katchi Abadi' near Community Centre, Aabpara, Mandi Morr and Khyaban Chowk, road sides of Sector F-7, greenbelt of Sector G-11/4, Khanna Pull, Markaz I-10, along Fiaz Ahmed Faiz Road and Nazim-ud-Din Road Sector F-6, Markaz G-8, Karachi Company Markaz G-9, in front of Ployclinic, Aabpara Market, Sectors G-13, G-6/4 and in G-7.
On the other hand, the affected people have alleged that the enforcement wing was following policy of pick and choose during operations particularly at Aabpara Market and other shopping areas. The enforcement never dare to touch traders who are occupying space in front of their shops and the operation is limited only to vendors.
"It is not easy to walk through verandas in front of shops because shopkeepers themselves with connivance of CDA staff are occupying the space," Muhammad Zahid, a customer at Aabpara Market said.
He said they use to hear that the authority had removed encroachers but the same situation is seen on ground.
During these operations, the official said the enforcement personnel demolished two illegally constructed boundary walls in Shah Madin and Dhoke Thali areas of Barri Imam, while one newly constructed bathroom in Muslim Colony was also demolished.
Enforcement teams also conducted operations in the areas of Mandi Morr (along the IJ Principal Road) and Khanna Pull and demolished illegal stalls and removed all moveable and immovable encroachments.
