Healthy life awareness campaign launched

LAHORE: In connection with World Health Day, an awareness campaign, Run for a Healthy Life, to promote healthy lifestyle among children was held that enrolled school children from Lahore.

A friendly cricket match was organised between children with T1 type diabetes, led by legendary cricketer Wasim Akram, and a team of students of participating schools led by Dr Abbas Raza, President of a SAFES and Danish Ambassador to Pakistan HE Rolf Holmboe.

The children awareness campaign was part of initiative “Run for Healthy Life” to promote a healthy lifestyle in Pakistan where obesity and diabetes is on the rise. Showing his gratitude, Dr Abbas Raza said, “We are very happy to see the initiative that helped spread importance of healthy lifestyle among children and created awareness against obesity and its related diseases.”

Rashed Rafique, GM of a pharmaceutical company, said: “We support this public awareness campaign under our global initiative of “Changing Diabetes” in Pakistan to focus on root cause of spread of diabetes, especially obesity.”

Danish Ambassador Rolf Holmboe, Deputy Director (Programmes-II), DG Health (Wing), Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination, Dr Samra Mazhar, Dr Tahir Rasul, MD of Akhuwat Health Services and a paediatric endocrinologist, Dr Jaida Manzoor, also shared their experiences.
