Customs promotes ex-Test cricketer Saleem Yousuf

Former Test cricketer Saleem Yousuf has been promoted to the rank of assistant collector in the Pakistan Customs.

The spokesman for the organisation said that a notification in this regard was also issued. The notification says, “The following Superintendents, Principal Appraiser, and Superintendent Preventive of Customs Department are promoted to the post of Assistant Collector (BS-17) in Pakistan Customs Service with immediate effect and until further orders. Nadeem Ahmad, Superintendent, LTU, Karachi, Mumtaz Khan, Superintendent, MCC, Peshawar, Muhammad Nazar-ul-Hassan, Superintendent, LTU, Karachi, Muhammad Zahid Khan, Superintendent, MCC , Peshawar, Muhammad Javed Mahmood, Superintendent, MCC, Faisalabad, Muzafar Ali Rizvi, Principal Appraiser, MCC, Appraisement-East, Karachi, Israr Hussain, Principal Appraiser, MCC, Islamabad, Syed Shahid Hussain Rizvi, Principal Appraiser, MCC, Gwadar, Riaz Hussain Bhatti, Principal Appraiser, MCC, Appraisement, Lahore and Salim Yousaf, Principal Appraiser, Dte. of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Karachi, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Principal Appraiser (Valuation), MCC, Islamabad Muhammad Saleem, Superintendent Preventive, MCC, Preventive, Karachi.”

The notification further reads that after the promotions of these officers, the existing posts of superintendent/principal appraiser/ superintendent preventive are upgraded to BS-17 till their postings against regular posts of assistant collector.

“Their promotion will take effect from the date of their charge assumption. They will be on probation for a period of one year, extendable for further period, not exceeding one year, provided that if no order is issued by the day following the termination of probationary period, the appointment shall deem to be held until further order.

The officers already drawing Performance Allowance equal to 100% of basic pay will continue to draw it on their promotion. The officers are requested to Relinquish/Assume Charge, using online HRMS facility made available at all FBR field offices or by using IJP login.”

The spokesman added that Saleem Yousuf, principal appraiser, Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation, Customs, Karachi, has been promoted to grade BPS-17. Former wicket keeper Yousuf was posted on different important places in the past.

According to the spokesman, Yousuf is am honest person and discharging his duties with total sincerity and dedication, and keeping in view his sincerity towards his work, he has been promoted as assistant collector, customs. His role in cricket at national and international level was remarkable, said the spokesman.

The elite of the city and important personalities from different sectors, including sportsmen, social workers, traders, industrialists and business community member, congratulated Yousuf on his current success and said it was expected that he would perform as assistant collector in the best interest of the country.
