KARACHI: Kainat Hafeez scored a fine half-century and Naila Nazir took three wickets as the PCB XI defeated HEC by one run in a last-over thriller in Inter-Departmental T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Kainat hit a 57-ball 74 with 11 fours to lift the PCB XI to 148 for four in 20 overs. In turn, despite Khatija Chishti’s fighting 41-ball 53 with eight fours, HEC finished at 147 for five in 20 overs with Naila claiming three for 15.
In the other match of the day, ZTBL recorded a comfortable 58-run victory over State Bank. Batting first, Javeria Wadood and Nahida Bibi scored useful half-centuries to help ZTBL to 171 for five. Javeria scored almost a-run-a-ball 56 that included seven fours, while Nahida’s 33-ball 52 was laced with eight fours. Bismah Maroof hit 36 off just 21 balls with five fours.
In turn, Fatima Sana took three for 23 as State Bank were restricted to 113 for eight, with Aliya Riaz finishing as the top scorer with 34, followed by Iram Javed (23).
