Far-flung areas to get solar power: CM

LAHORE : Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting to discuss the proposals and plans to set up modern solar power plants.

Addressing the meeting held at CM's Office, Usman Buzdar said a Canadian company had expressed its interest in the proposed plans. He said Punjab had a huge potential for solar energy production. New technology would be used for the purpose, he added. He said the Canadian company should prepare off-grid solution in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Cholistan and Thal and a feasibility report would be made after survey in the areas.

He said electricity would be provided through modern solar power plants to the areas where there was no transmission line.

He said the Punjab government would provide all possible facilities in this regard.

A representative of the Canadian company, Nouman Khan, briefed the CM on the modern technology of solar energy and the performance of new panels. Provincial Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik, chief secretary and other officers concerned were also present.

lawyers: A delegation of Multan District Bar Association led by its President Nazim Khan called on Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The chief minister assured the lawyers that the problems faced by them would be solved. He said he was himself a lawyer and aware of the problems faced by lawyers. "It is our responsibility to solve the problems of lawyers," he stated. Provincial Minister Dr Akhtar Malik was also present.
