Zardari, Faryal move IHC for pre-arrest bail
ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur on Wednesday filed plea in Islamabad High Court seeking pre-arrest bail in money laundering and fake bank account case.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sent call up notice to former president Asif Ali Zardari to appear before the Combined Investigation Team (CIT) on March 20 to record his statement in fake bank account case.
In petition former president and his sister nominated National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as respondent and requested the court to order NAB not to arrest them till the relevant accountability court takes up the case against them.
Zardari’s petition states that in order to safeguard himself from mala fide and illegal arrest at the hands of NAB and law enforcing agencies of the country and to enable him to surrender before the competent court of law, he had filed a constitutional petition with the Sindh High Court for protective bail.
The petition also gives the reference of Sindh High Court decision which approved 10-day protective bail of former president Asif Ali Zardari.
Petition further states that there is possibility if Asif Ali Zardari would appear before NAB authorities in connection with a call up notice he might be arrested in some other cases.
Former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur have requested the court to grant them interim bail in fake bank account case.
