ABU DHABI: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has busted a drug cartel in the UAE and arrested two gang leaders – one in the UAE and the other in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with the help of Pakistani authorities.

The UAE thanked the Pakistani authorities for their cooperation in busting the drug cartel, according to the Interior Ministry video release. The UAE Ministry of Interior said that the international gang was arrested for selling drugs in the emirates. First, the UAE officials raided the hideout of the gang and arrested one of its head in the emirates. The police also confiscated 10kg cocaine and huge amount of cash.

Following the operation, the leader of the same gang based in Pakistan had threatened the UAE authorities to take revenge for his accomplice’s arrest. Then the UAE Ministry of Interior formed a team of Emirati police and Pakistani police to arrest the culprit. After providing the information to Pakistani authorities, the police located his position inside Pakistan, arrested him and then handed him over to UAE authorities. Further investigations revealed that the gang had been operating from 242 different locations in the UAE.
