RCB makes fresh crackdown on encroachments in Saddar
Rawalpindi : The Enforcement Cell of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) taking notice of the complaints of traders as well as residents, motorists on Tuesday made a fresh crackdown on encroachers at Bank Road, Haider Road and Kashmir Road besides Adamjee Road and removed all kind of movable encroachments, which were creating traffic hazards.
The people as well as traders and shopkeepers of these areas based in Saddar had held a meeting with the Executive Officer, RCB recently and lodged complaint about the presence of encroachers including stallers and cart pushers besides establishment of small cabins by people at different points at road sides.
Taking immediate notice of their complaints, the CEO issued directions to Chief of Enforcement Cell, Hassan Jan for launching crackdown against the encroachers who have established their business in Bank Road, Haider Road, Kashmir Road and Adamjee Road.
Acting on the directions of the CEO, the in-charge of enforcement cell formed two special squads for action against encroachers. The task of first squad comprising 13 staff members was to remove temporary encroachments while making assessment of traffic management after consulting with traffic personnel.
Similarly, the members of second squad numbering 12 were asked to remove all kind of traffic hazards created by encroachers and parking of vehicles by motorists in no parking areas.
Following the orders of the head of enforcement cell, the specially constituted squads along with the police personnel launched an operation on all four areas, which were mentioned in the complaints.
As the operation was going on, the traders, shopkeepers and residents of the four areas gathered and lauded the role of RCB for taking immediate action against encroachers.
While removing temporary encroachments, the enforcement staff seized goods and items of the encroachers as well and dumped them in store. Some of the encroachers who tried to resist the move of enforcement staff were taken into custody by the police. Similarly, the enforcement incharge also imposed fines and referred the cases of encroachers with the magistrate in RCB.
Later on, the traders along with some area people visited RCB and holding meeting with CEO expressed their thanks and appreciation for removal of temporary encroachers at Sadar areas.
