SUKKUR: PPP’s senior leader and MNA Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Tuesday said only education can rescue the nation but it is unfortunate that the dictators never prioritised education.

Khursheed Shah said only the PPP and its founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto promoted primary and adult literacy programmes to drive the nation out of darkness. He said education is a panacea to all problems. He said the Aligarh Muslim University and the Sindh Madressahtul Islam changed the complexion of the whole Sub-continent. The PPP’s senior leader said now the teachers are getting handsome salaries but they are not ready to properly do their jobs. He said on education there is consensus among politicians across the political divide.

Khursheed said we need to seriously focus on girls’ education as the social paradigms are shifting rapidly towards gender equality and women share due rights in the society with the men. He said future development targets could only be achieved through quality education and gender equality. The PPP MNA claimed revolutionary changes are visible in Sindh in terms of education, as more schools are being built with the cooperation of USAID. He said some of the schools assisted by USAID have been handed over to the IBA Sukkur to promote quality education.
