36 DSPs suspended for graft, power abuse

LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi has suspended 36 DSPs after the allegations of corruption, misconduct, power abuse and negligence in duties proved true under internal accountability mechanism.

The internal accountability mechanism in Punjab Police has been accelerated to eliminate all the elements involved in negligence, misconduct, power abuse and corruption. There will be zero-tolerance in this regard and this will not be limited to the DSPs only but a stern department action will be taken wherever inefficient or negligible conduct is observed.

Amjad Javed Saleemi expressed these views while issuing suspension orders of 36 DSPs after departmental action. The IG said that every official would be made accountable irrespective of their ranks and without any laxity. He said this uniform requires us to provide justice to the people, the justice will not be for sale in police department, the accountability system will be made more transparent and everyone will be provided opportunity to present his case.
