6,742 children admitted to KTH Paediatric Dept in 6 months
PESHAWAR: Around 6,742 children were admitted to the two wards of the Department of Child Health in Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) in the last 6 months.
A press release said that KTH was providing 24/7 services to the most vulnerable paediatric population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Afghanistan. It said that the 68-bed two wards of the Paediatric Department have the highest bed occupancy rate. The communication added that the Paediatric Department has provided OPD (outpatient care) services to 42,000 children in the last 6 months.
Referrals from periphery hospitals, Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) have further added to the burden of patients on the KTH. The KTH has 12-bedded intensive care facilities (ventilator, peritoneal dialysis, exchange transfusion) is available for paediatric and neonatal patients. In 2018, around 2,253 children were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The Paediatric Department of the KTH has 35-bedded Nursery Unit where 6,000 newborn babies were admitted in 2018. On average 20-25 newborns are admitted in Nursery Unit.

Power supply will remain suspended to some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to repair and maintenance work at some gridstations.
According to the press release of the Peshawar Electric City Company (Pesco), power supply will remain suspended from 132 KV Hayatabad gridstation today (Tuesday) from 8am to 6pm and the consumers of 11 KV Hayatabad 6 feeders will resultantly face inconvenience.Similarly, power supply will remain suspended from 132 KV Jamrud gridstation, today from 8am to 6pm resultantly consumers of 11 KV Hayatabad 1,3, Hayatabad Surgical, PIC feeders will face difficulties. Electricity will remain suspended from 132 KV new Wah gridstation on March 28 from 9am to 5pm additional loadshedding will be carried out on 11 KV Ghazi, Serikot, Wapda Colony, Sobra City, Qazipur, Jamra feeders during this period if required. Power supply will remain suspended from 132 KV Shahi Bagh gridstation today from 9am to 2pm resultantly consumers of 132 KV Shahi Bagh,66 KV Badaber, 220 KV Mardan grids will face inconvenience.
