Five children among six killed in school wall collapse
GUJRANWALA: Six people, including five children, were killed and 14 others injured when part of the building of a private school collapsed on Kashmir Road.
The tragedy struck when a ceremony was under way in connection with the Yaum-e-Pakistan at the KT Model School when suddenly school terrace and a wall collapsed. As a result, five children including Fatima Rasool (14), Shahan (9), Noor (16), Kadija (11), Mohsin (7) and teacher Kausar (35) died. Also, Shazia, Shafaq, Tabaq, Shiza, Jannat, Noor Fatima, Zumbal, Iman, Maryam, Fiza, Murwa and Sobia received injuries. The Rescue-1122 team shifted the bodies and the injured to DHQ Hospital. The Deputy Commissioner Naila Baqer visited the spot and ordered an inquiry. The inquiry committee, under the supervision of the AC city, will submit its initial report in 24 hours.
