‘3,000 out of school children to be enrolled’
Islamabad: The Federal Directorate of Education has identified around 3,000 out of school children in Nilore sector for enrollment.
According to officials, Islamabad's over 25,000 children don't go to school with most of them living in the city's suburban areas of Nilore and Tarnol.
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood has already directed the FDE overseen by the ministry to ensure the early identification and enrollment of all such children in the respective public sector educational institutions.
Allowing public-private partnership for the purpose, he said he wanted to see all children of the capital city go to school within two years.
Nilore area education officer Muhammad Sohail Khan said around 3,000 out-of-school children had been found in Nilore sector, who would gradually be enrolled in the local public sector schools.
He said the Nilore sector's educational institutions lacked teachers and basic facilities.
The AEO said Moawin Foundation, an NGO headed by former naval chief Admiral (r) M Asif Sandila, had been helping the directorate provide missing facilities to 12 schools in Nilore sector, including furniture, drinking water's supply, rooms, and teacher training.
He said the public-private partnership model would further the cause of education in the area.
