A ceremony was held at the Governor House on the occasion of Pakistan Day on Saturday to bestow coveted civil awards of the country to 15 distinguished people belonging to different walks of life in the province.
The awards were conferred on the recipients by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail. Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah conducted the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor greeted the recipients, saying that all of them truly deserved such an honour in view of their services in various fields of life.
The talent and abilities of the award recipients had been recognised in a befitting manner, Ismail maintained, adding that Pakistan was the true identity of all the award recipients.
The governor also urged the award recipients to transfer their skills and life-long learning to the youth.
Among the recipients, Sitara-e-Imtiaz was conferred on Prof Dr Shahid A Sami, Kaleemullah Lashari, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, Sajjad Ali, Muhammad Bashir Farooqui, Iqbal Ali Lakhani and Muhammad Yunus Tabba.
The President's Award for Pride of Performance was received by Prof Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi, Muhammad Shabbir Jan, Siyani Khatoon, Taj Baloch and Sofia Yazdani.
Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was conferred on three individuals, including Prof Dr Rukhsana Wamiq Zuberi, Syed Sabihuddin Rehmani and Syed Ali Abbas.
