LAHORE: Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday held a mammoth meeting with the provincial ministers and it was decided to take measures for improving administrative performance along with providing facilities to people.
Provision of relief to the people and ensuring good governance in the province were discussed during the meeting held the CM’s office. Different ministers, including Muhammad Basharat Raja, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Muhammad Sibtain Khan, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad attended the meeting. The chief secretary and principal secretary were also present.
The meeting decided to take measures for improving administrative performance along with providing facilities to the people. It decided that stern action would be taken against those involved in the artificial price-hike.
The CM directed the authorities concerned to initiate indiscriminate crackdown on the profiteers and hoarders. He said that price control magistrates will have to perform more proactively to overcome the price hike. The people cannot be left at the mercy of the elements involved in artificial price-hike, he added. The meeting gave the responsibility of stabilising the prices of essential items to Provincial Minister for Industry Mian Aslam Iqbal. The CM said that the line departments should make every effort for public welfare. He said good governance should be ensured and merit be promoted at every level. The CM said that the interests of small farmers would be protected during wheat procurement campaign and wheat will be procured at the rate of Rs 1,300 per maund from the farmers. He said that the living standard of the people would be improved through good governance initiatives. “We will jointly serve the people and no hurdle will ever impede the journey of public service,” he said. The process of consultation with the ministers will be continued, he added. There is no concern for criticism and the journey of public service will be moved forward with sustained efforts, the CM said.
Down syndrome: Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the children suffering from the Down syndrome are the government responsibility and they deserve special attention of society. In a message issued here, the CM said that securing the future of such children was a collective responsibility. Sustained efforts are needed to make them a useful citizen of society, he added.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has congratulated the Hindu community on the Holi festival. In a message, he said the festival promotes brotherhood and friendship in society.Notice: Usman Buzdar took notice of the murder of a college professor and sought a report from the Bahawalpur regional police officer.
He also extended sympathies to the bereaved family. The chief minister ordered investigations into the matter, saying that legal action should be initiated against the accused and provision of justice be ensured to the bereaved.
