Another govt official’s car snatched

In another car snatching of a government official in the city, the latest victim is an income tax commissioner of the Federal Board of Revenue who lost his vehicle on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Phase-VI of the Defence Housing Authority. The Darakhshan police said Zia Agro’s car (registration No. GPA-428) was snatched at gunpoint, adding that FIR No. 171/19 has been registered under Section 392/34.

At least five other government officials’ cars have been snatched this year, including Sindh Revenue Board Appellate Tribunal Chairman Azhar Khan whose vehicle was snatched in the Gizri police jurisdiction on February 13.

Last year, some 35 government officials’ vehicles, including one of Mayor Wasim Akhtar, were snatched or stolen in the city, while a gang involved in such incidents was also busted, but despite that, there has been no let-up in such crimes.
