FAISALABAD: The 4th two-day NTU-DICE Textile Innovation Event and 5th International conference on Value Addition and Innovation in Textiles (COVITEX) is being held at National Textile University, Faisalabad from March 20.
Talking to reporters, NTU Rector DrTanvir Hussain said the varsity had always played a pivotal role in upbringing the textile sector of the country. He said the moot was a regular event for the last three years and its goal was to build Pakistan's textile industry on modern lines and take it to new heights.
Dr Tanvir said DrYasir Nawab, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, NTU, has been deputed to make appropriate and befitting arrangements for the moot. He said the main objectives of the event was to promote and collaborate on innovations related to textile sector, commercialisation of innovations, textile engineering capacity building, leveraging knowledge of expatriates around the world, providing access of international markets to Pakistani textile industry and to help the government in textile policy making.
He said the event was one of the biggest gatherings of academia and textile industry. Experts affiliated with industry and academia from Pakistan, China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, USA, UK, Australia, Nigeria and Sudan will deliver speeches and participate in panel discussions. He said Rs. 0.6 million were allocated to give awards to exhibition and textile innovation competitions.
Dr Tanvir said Abdul Razak Dawood (Advisor to PM Pakistan) would be the guest of honour on the occasion and delegations from 40 universities, 150 student/faculty groups and more than 120 industries/CEOs had already confirmed their participation. He said some 300 delegates from textile industry across the country would attend the event. The event would be open for general public from 9am to 5pm, Dr Tanvir added.
