Police constable killed in road accident
A police constable died in a traffic accident in the SITE area on Monday. Police officials said the accident took place near Paracha Chowk within the limits of the SITE B Section police station, adding that the constable, Wasim Sajjad, son of Aslam, was travelling on a motorcycle when a speedy truck bearing registration number RNP-729 hit him.
The constable died on the spot. Upon receiving the information, police officials reached the site and impounded the truck; however, its driver managed to flee. The deceased constable was a resident of Baldia Town. The body was shifted to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for burial. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.
