On the completion of 41 years since the establishment of Post Graduate Medical Institute, its administration is holding a second alumni conference on June 10 wherein a large number of old students of PGMI belonging to in and out of Pakistan will participate.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, PGMI/LGH Principal Prof Anjum Habib Vohra, talking to a delegation of old students of PGMI, said the alumni conference would be attended also by those doctors who had been working on important posts and being old students would share their experiences regarding the role of PGMI in the promotion of medical education and profession and treatment of various diseases. Juniors will have a great deal of guidance and motivation by virtue of this conference, he added.
Prof. Anjum Habib Vohra said that with the establishment of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, the role of PGMI had taken a new turn and identity. He said that PGMI was playing a leading role under the patronage of the Punjab government in the struggle against dengue and other diseases and in the field of medical research. This organisation has earned a good name in research during the last couple of years, he said. PGMI’s students are serving the country and foreign countries and have impressed everybody by their talent and abilities. Prof. Anjum Habib Vohra told the media that PGMI came into being in 1974 and up to now it had gained a respected and unique position as an academic organisation as well as a specialised medical institute. A large number of doctors serving from the level of Basic Health Units to medical colleges and hospitals are qualified from this Institute. He said that 2nd alumni conference of PGMI would have a historical perspective in the sense of promotion and upgrading the standard of healthcare services.
