36 multi-storey residential flats built for police

LAHORE : To overcome the shortage of residences for employees of Lahore Police, the department has constructed 36 multi-storey state-of-the-art residential flats at the cost of Rs227.342 million at Abbott Road, Qilla Gujjar Singh, adjacent to the Investigation Headquarters.

The father of two martyred constable brothers Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony. Constable Ali Raza Nazir and his brother Constable Ghulam Murtaza both had sacrificed their lives while performing duty near Arfa Karim IT Tower, Ferozpur Road, Lahore in 2017.

Along with these two martyrs five other Policemen had also lost their lives.

Capital City Police Officer Bashir Ahmad Nasir, DIG Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazir, DIG Investigation Dr Inam Waheed, DIG Security, SSPs, SPs, DSPs and other police officials were also present.

This residential project is divided into three blocks and each block has 12 flats. Separate tube-well and water tank having a capacity of 30,000 gallons has also been provided for this project.

Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Lahore said it was our prime duty to provide best possible residential as well as other basic facilities to the policemen who ensure the protection of life and property of public so that they could improve their performance.

He said peace of mind for a cop and secure atmosphere for his family members was essential for better service delivery and such welfare oriented projects should be continued in future to get better results.

He said Lahore Police has changed its policy regarding the inauguration of all its projects as now the heirs of the martyrs would inaugurate all the projects as a token of the recognition of sacrifices of martyrs.

“The inauguration of these multi-storey flats by the father of martyred constable brothers showed the martyrs were the pride of police department and we would always honour their sacrifices.”

The CCPO Lahore said it was the prior responsibility of the department to look after the affairs and welfare of the heirs of martyrs.

Welfare Eye and Welfare department under a dedicated unit of Lahore Police were constantly in contact with the heirs of the martyrs of Lahore Police to look after their affairs.

He lauded the cooperation of the Punjab government and personal interest of IG Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi for the completion of these residential flats.

Chaudhry Nazir Ahmad, Father of martyred constables, unveiled the plaque to inaugurate the project. CCPO Lahore along with other officers visited different sections of the flats and inspected the facilities being provided.

Lahore DIG Operations, while briefing about the project, said this project comprised of 36 flats consist of three blocks which would be provided to the Inspector rank and above officers of Police department. He said these flats were completed in ten years.

Two officers transferred: Punjab Inspector General Police Amjad Javed Saleemi has issued transfer/posting orders of two police officers. SP Investigation DG Khan, Tahir Mustafa, has been transferred and posted as SP PHP DG Khan and SP PHP DG Khan, Sajjad Hussain has been transferred and directed to report Central Police Office Punjab Lahore, with immediate effect.
