KARACHI: Finally all the enclosures of the National Stadium have got teflon roof as Quaid, Asif Iqbal, Wasim Akram and Waqar Hasan enclosures have also been covered.

Sources at the NSK said that PCB authorities took notice of the delay in the installation of teflon roof when the PSL matches in Karachi began. The stadium was giving an unpleasant look when these four enclosures were not covered. The sources said that work was carried out at night and was completed by early Monday morning.

The entire stadium’s roof presented a great look after the completion of teflon installation. The NSK is the only stadium in Pakistan with all its enclosures covered by Teflon roof. The sources said that teflon is commonly used in all big stadiums of various disciplines. It is a fiber-made, flexible material used at venues of football, cricket, baseball, and other sports competitions.

Teflon protects the spectators from extreme weather conditions and roofs made of it are also appealing to the eye. The material filters light, cuts down on glare, and provides illumination to large interior spaces.

It was imported from Germany and some technical work on teflon was done in Singapore from where it was brought to Pakistan. Singaporean technicians installed it. A drainage system is also part of the teflon-made roof.
