Tribal youth demand 3pc share under NFC
PESHAWAR: The Tribal Youth Movement (TYM) has announced to stage a sit-in in Islamabad to force the government to implement the decision of allocating three percent share to the former tribal areas under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Tribal Youth Movement President Khayal Zaman Orakzai, general secretary Irshad Afridi, senior vice-president Misbahuddin, and chairperson women wing Naila Altaf recalled that the government could not honour its commitment which it had made before
the merger of tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Tribal Youth Movement president demanded rights of Levies and Khassadar forces and three percent share in National Finance Commission Award to end the sense of deprivation among tribal people.
He said the government had promised to merge Levies and Khassadars into the police force and they would be given facilities like that of police but now the government was not ready to the agreed plan.
He said the tribal youth would not accept it at any cost and asked Prime Minister Imran Khan and provincial government to merge Khassadar force into police and provide them equal rights.
The Tribal Youth Movement president demanded the appointment of local youth on vacant posts. He said the tribal youth were not opposed to the merger of Fata into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but would stage protest demonstration for the acceptance of their genuine demands.
