Cop murdered by beloved’s family

LAHORE: A 24-year-old police constable was shot dead allegedly by the family of his beloved in the Batapur police area on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Asif, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin. He was attached with Special Protection Unit to provide security to Chinese in Manawan. On the day of the incident, he reached the home of his beloved and the girl's brothers reportedly shot him dead and hid his body under a bed. The accused persons fled the scene by locking their home.

Police reached the scene and collected evidence. They also recorded the statements of locals. Further investigation is underway. Police have removed the body to morgue. Youth dies: A 20-year-old youth died in a road accident near Araiaan Stop in the Raiwind police jurisdiction on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Awais. Police said he was going on a bike when a van hit and killed him. An Edhi ambulance removed the body to morgue. Later, police handed over the body to his family. Meanwhile, a 35-year old man sustained injuries when his bike hit a footpath near Batapur. The victim has been identified as Waqar.

law, order: SP Headquarters Syed Karrar Hussain has said that Police Headquarters Wing is actively contributing to Lahore Police to maintaining law and order in the provincial capital and imparting training to police officials. Sharing the weekly performance of Police Headquarters Wing, he said 1,280 policemen were deployed in different areas of the City on a daily basis to maintain law and order. Syed Karrar Hussain said that the cops of Police Operations Wing were given training of firing rounds in the firing range of Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines. As many as 250 officials of Operations Wing were given facility of firing practice with SMG guns and Beretta pistols during the last week.
