Book on ‘Pakistan Movement: New Dimension 1935-1948’ launched

Islamabad: At an impressive ceremony held at Preston University Islamabad a book titled “Pakistan Movement: New Dimension 1935-1948”, written by Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and Aizaz-i-Fazeelat was formally launched, says a press release.

The event was jointly organised by Preston University and the Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan (AHAP). Eminent scholars, academicians, intellectuals and the senior faculty and management, and students of Preston University were present on the occasion.

Eminent among the speakers who spoke on the occasion were Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, author of the book, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Chairman Archaeological and historical Association of Pakistan , Dr. Syed Umar Hayat, Director NICHR Quaid-e-Azam University, Allama Dr. Hussain Muhammad, and Prof. Dr. Samina Awan, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Allama Iqbal Open University.

In his inaugural address on the occasion, M. Fazal Elahi, director general (Media/PR & Publications) Preston University at the outset extended a very warm welcome to Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, the author of the book, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, chairman (AHAP), the distinguished speakers of the forum, the revered faculty and students of Preston University and the honored guests. Giving his views on the book “Pakistan Movement: New Dimension 1935-1948”, he said Dr. Riaz Ahmed’s book provides a cogent and convincing answer to the question now being asked by many: why Pakistan? He said many books have been written on the Pakistan Movement, in spite of this, there is great scarcity of books in this vital area. But the Book “Pakistan Movement: New Dimension 1935-1948” is somewhat different. In this book, the very able and prolific writer Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed presents facts of the Pakistan Movement in a different perspective.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Samina Imam, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Allama Iqbal Open University, Dr. Syed Umar Hayat, Director NICHR Quaid-e-Azam University, Allama Dr. Hussain Muhammad and the other speakers’ profoundly lauded the efforts of Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmed in compiling his current publication “Pakistan Movement: New Dimension 1935-1948”.They said, the book very effectively unfolds the happenings that led to the culmination of the Pakistan Movement and ultimately to the creation of Pakistan.
