Police claim solving mysterious death of woman
KARACHI : Police on Saturday claimed to have solved the mystery behind the death of a young woman who was found dead from outskirts of the city last month.
The woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances within the limits of the Mochko police station on February 20. Her body was taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi for medico-legal formalities and later shifted to a morgue for want of her heirs.
Investigators claimed that the woman was identified as Rubab, daughter of Shafiq, by her brother, Javed Shafiq, at the morgue. Several marks of injection were found on her body, particularly on her hands, police officials said.
In his statement recorded to the police, Javed said his sister had been missing since the day she left home for shopping ahead of the wedding ceremony of her cousin and did not return. Later, her body was found near the Edhi graveyard in the Mochko area.
The brother told the police that they did not have any enmity with anyone, adding that his sister's mobile phone and ring were still missing.
Javed, who is also the complainant in the case, said he nominated a person, Omar, and three of his unidentified companions in the FIR but the police had failed to trace and arrest the suspects.
