Body formed to decide cyclists’ fate
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) has formed a three-member committee to decide the fate of cyclists Mohammad Shakeel and Waqas Mehmood who have tested positive for a banned drug.
The two cyclists were found guilty of using 19-Norandrosterone drug in the National Championship.
The committee includes Nisar Ahmad, Haroon General, and Maj (r) Rehmat Ali.
PCF Secretary Azhar Ali Shah said the committee would meet once the cyclists have furnished their replies to the show cause notices. “They were served show cause notices on Wednesday evening after the PCF president’s return from abroad. Once we get their replies, the matter will be forwarded to the committee.”
When asked as to why the federation did not go public about the cyclists’ failed tests, he said the PCF would only do it once the committee decides on the matter.
