LAHORE: Multan Division will defend their title as the 64th Pakistan Railways annual Inter-Division Athletics Championship begins here at the Railway Stadium on Friday. Chairman/Secretary Railway Board Sikandar Sultan Raja will inaugurate the Championship.
Over 400 men and women athletes from all nine divisions of Railways - Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Workshop, Railways Police, Multan, Sukkur, Quetta, Karachi will participate in the 2-day Championship. Muhammad Iqbal, International Taekwondo player, will lead the march past of the participating athletes with national flag whereas Ms Twinkle Sohail, International Women Weight Lifter/Power Lifter, will hold the Pakistan Railways Sports Board flag.
After various events on Friday, the finals of 100m men’s race, 4x400 relay race, 4x100m, relay race (men & women) and 400m race (women) will be contested on Saturday (March 9) when Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Minister of Railways, will be the chief guest. He will give away prizes amongst the athletes.
