‘Panahgah’ — 6,000 people stayed since opening

Rawalpindi : Under the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the ‘Panahgah’ (shelter home), set up by the District Administration Rawalpindi at Fawara Chowk, has so far accommodated more than 6,000 people since its establishment couple of months ago.

Similarly, about 12 senior citizens stay at the ‘Panahgah’ on permanent basis. People residing at ‘Panahgah’ get breakfast, dinner and medical facilities free of cost.

This was stated by focal person for ‘Panahgah’, Fawara Chowk and Sub-Registrar/Cantt. Magistrate Hafiz Muhammad Imran while briefing on this project on Tuesday.

He said apart from senior citizens residing on permanent basis, all people can stay at the ‘Panahgah’ from 5:30 p.m. to 8 a.m., where they are provided free food, comfortable bed and medical facilities without any charges on providing their CNIC and contact number of their close relative.

The focal person further briefed said accommodation facilities have been increased from 80 to 125 beds in three months. Hafiz Muhammad Imran said people from Sawat, Dir, Chatral and other remote areas are also stay here and they are mostly daily wage labourers.

The magistrate also said in case of any emergency, the residents of ‘Panahgah’ are taken to DHQ Hospital for free medical facilities.
